The shepherd's rod represents God as our protector, examiner, and corrector, while the staff shows Him as our rescuer, connector, and guide. Valley experiences aren't destinations but passages to higher ground. Whatever challenges we face, we can take comfort in the Lord who is there is walking with us through every trial.
